Am Samstag, 13. Mai 2017, erhielt Patricia \u00abPatty\u00bb Hermann-Shores in Lugano den PRIX VISIO. Mit dieser h\u00f6chsten Auszeichnung des Schweizerischen Geh\u00f6rlosenbundes wird Patty Shores f\u00fcr ihren langj\u00e4hrigen Einsatz in der Bildung und ihren Kampf f\u00fcr gleiche Rechte von Menschen mit einer H\u00f6rbehinderung geehrt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Der PRIX VISIO wird jedes Jahr im Rahmen der Delegiertenversammlung des Schweizerischen Geh\u00f6rlosenbundes verliehen. Er geht an Pers\u00f6nlichkeiten aus der Selbst- und Fachhilfe f\u00fcr ausserordentliches und langj\u00e4hriges Engagement zugunsten der Integration und Inklusion von Geh\u00f6rlosen und H\u00f6rbehinderten in die Gesellschaft. Am 13. Mai 2017 ging diese h\u00f6chste Auszeichnung des Geh\u00f6rlosenbundes an Patty Shores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In seiner Laudatio erz\u00e4hlt Beat Kleeb, Ehrenmitglied des Schweizerischen Geh\u00f6rlosenbundes, von Patty Shores\u2018 bewegtem Leben und ihren Verdiensten: Wie sie in S\u00fcdafrika und Kanada aufwuchs, den Zugang zur Geb\u00e4rdensprache fand, am Gallaudet College in Nordamerika P\u00e4dagogik und Politische Wissenschaft studierte und schliesslich 1982 auf Einladung von Gottfried Ringli f\u00fcr ein Praktikum an die Geh\u00f6rlosenschule Wollishofen in die Schweiz kam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hier lernte sie ihren sp\u00e4teren Mann Roland Hermann kennen. 1991 zog Patty Shores endg\u00fcltig in die Schweiz, wo sie als Dozentin an der heutigen Hochschule f\u00fcr Heilp\u00e4dagogik (HfH) in Z\u00fcrich anfing. Gleichzeitig half sie beim Aufbau der Ausbildungsg\u00e4nge f\u00fcr Geb\u00e4rdensprachdolmetscher\/-innen und Geb\u00e4rdensprachausbildner\/-innen. Bis heute wurden unter ihrer Leitung 15 Ausbildungsg\u00e4nge durchgef\u00fchrt, aktuell leitet sie an der HfH den neuen Lehrgang f\u00fcr Fachpersonen Geb\u00e4rdensprache FAGS (AGSA). Beat Kleeb betonte in seiner Laudatio, wie wertvoll diese Arbeit ist: \u00abOhne Geb\u00e4rdensprachausbildner keine qualifizierten Geb\u00e4rdensprachdolmetscher, ohne Geb\u00e4rdensprachdolmetscher keine volle Inklusion von Geh\u00f6rlosen im Beruf und in der Gesellschaft.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seit 2014 sitzt Patty Shores zudem f\u00fcr den Schweizerischen Geh\u00f6rlosenbund im Vorstand der Dachorganisation Inclusion Handicap. Dort setzt sie sich mit viel Engagement f\u00fcr die politische und rechtliche Gleichstellung von Menschen mit einer H\u00f6rbehinderung ein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sichtlich ger\u00fchrt und unter Standing Ovations nahm Patty Shores die Skulptur und die Urkunde des PRIX VISO in Lugano entgegen. Mit ihr auf der B\u00fchne waren ihr Mann, Roland Hermann, und als besonderer Gast ihr geh\u00f6rloser Bruder John aus Kanada.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
